NAB 2023: Qvest Bundles Playout Expertise in Stream Team

Qvest is further expanding its service portfolio in cloud-based software technologies. The Qvest subsidiary HMS will be fully integrated into the company group and will henceforth operate as Qvest Stream GmbH. Its cloud play-out automation makalu will be even more powerful with a comprehensive functional upgrade and will be presented for the first time at this year’s NAB Show.

With the full integration of its subsidiary HMS, Qvest is sharpening its focus on software products for cloud-based media applications. Qvest says its customers will benefit “from the even closer cooperation between the product development teams as well as the now global availability of these software solutions.” Within the company group, Qvest Stream GmbH is an integral part of the Qvest Products division, where the development of all products is managed centrally.

The portfolio of Qvest Stream includes software products for play-out and newsroom solutions, as well as numerous other applications for media applications. These include Makalu, the Europe-wide established software-defined cloud play-out automation that enables media companies to easily and quickly manage linear live, pop-up and FAST channels.

At NAB Show, the Qvest Stream team will unveil a comprehensively enhanced version of makalu for the first time. In addition to even more powerful features, users will benefit from the redesigned and intuitive user interface. Furthermore, the Qvest Stream team will present the powerful studio server ClipBox at NAB, which is optimised for live and pre-production in the professional broadcast environment.

Peter Nöthen, Qvest Group CEO, said: “Through the full integration of HMS, we will sustainably strengthen our cooperation and serve the needs of our customers in an even more targeted manner. With the Qvest Stream team and their product expertise, we are now leveraging synergies at all levels, especially in the area of play-out solutions, which are in high demand. Customers and partners will particularly benefit from the global availability of these products as well as a close integration of consulting, sales, support and operations.”

Frank Mistol, managing director, Qvest Stream, added: “We are pleased to continue the already five-year success story with Qvest and to bundle the activities for cloud-based distribution products under a new, strong brand. This step is therefore a strong signal for our team, our customers and our product portfolio. We will now reach new customers and markets with makalu as well as our other software solutions, thus expanding the product range of the Qvest Group internationally.”
