NAB 2024: VITAC, Prime Focus Technologies, Irdeto Earn Sustainability Honours

LAS VEGAS — Several MESA members were among those honoured at the NAB Show for their work in sustainable practices.

NAB Show celebrated sustainability champions in six categories during its annual Excellence in Sustainability Awards ceremony.

Judged by an independent panel of experts, award winners were recognised as individuals, companies, and products/services for outstanding innovations in media technology that promote sustainability and foster economic and social development.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) supported the awards ceremony.

“NAB Show is proud to recognise the individuals and companies leading the way in sustainability in our industry,” said Chris Brown, EVP and managing director of NAB Global Connections and Events. “As we celebrate our collective commitment to environmental responsibility and the creation of a more sustainable future for our industry, we hope to inspire innovation and encourage best practices in areas such as energy efficiency, waste reduction and sustainable content production. This year’s winners included:

• Phillippe Wetzel, CEO of VITEC, for Champion in Sustainability. An individual that has consistently demonstrated leadership in sustainability.

• Prathamesh Tare, Prime Focus Technologies, for Emerging Talent in Sustainability. A young professional or emerging talent making a significant impact in advancing sustainability within the industry.

• HBO’s “True Detective Night Country” for Green Production Practices. A content creator prioritising eco-friendly production methods, such as sustainable set design, green production and reduced environmental impact during production.

• Irdeto, digital platform cybersecurity, for Leadership In Sustainability. An organisation that has launched or completed a sustainability initiative that takes critical steps to transform its business in line with a sustainable future.

The awards ceremony was preceded by the panel discussion “Exploring HBO’s True Detective Night Country: A Discussion on Sustainability in Modern Production.”

The insightful discussion explored the intersection of the acclaimed television series HBO’s “True Detective Night Country” and modern principles of sustainability in production. Executive producer Mari Jo Winkler-Ioffreda shared the show’s approach to sustainability.
