Jim Weinheimer joined Cato Digital in 2020 as Sr Director of Solutions Engineering. Jim is a subject matter expert in data center engineering and operations. Prior to Cato he was an Engineering Manager responsible for designing, building, and operating data centers for Uber where he oversaw the construction of 60MW+ of capacity. As an Engineering Manager in the Advanced Technologies Group (ATG) he was responsible for the infrastructure teams at Uber’s autonomous vehicle development arm, responsible for data center engineering and operations, hardware, networking, and High Performance Compute (HPC) cluster management software. The ATG infrastructure team built the world’s first data center dedicated to autonomous vehicle development, including 150k+ cores of parallel compute, 12+ Pflops of GPUs for machine learning, and 130PB+ of high-performance storage.
Prior to Uber ATG, Jim led data center engineering at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, overseeing major renovations and upgrades to corporate facilities and consolidating infrastructure from mergers and acquisitions. Jim is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh’s school of computer science.
