Serban Simu is President and co-founder of Eluvio, and co-creator of the Content Fabric protocol, an open and decentralized Internet protocol for owner-controlled streaming, storage, and monetization of digital content at scale. The Content Fabric provides premium content distribution and management for tier-1 sports, studios, and artists globally, and has won multiple product awards from leading organizations at global industry events including HPA, IABM, IBC, and NAB.

Serban is a technology innovator, hands-on engineering leader, and entrepreneur. Serban previously founded Aspera in 2004. He co-invented the Aspera FASP™ transport technology used in the digital media supply chain for high-speed, low-cost secure digital content transport, replacing satellite and traditional tape-based delivery technologies, and won an engineering Emmy. At Aspera, he implemented the first versions of the product, and ran the engineering organization for 13 years, as the company grew to 250+ people, and through the acquisition by IBM in 2014. Prior to Aspera, he was with Cisco Content Networking group, as a lead software engineer at Digital Fountain.

Serban holds multiple patents with expertise in high performance software, networking and secure systems design and implementation. He has a B.Sc. degree in Computer Science from the Universitatea Politehnica Bucuresti in Bucharest, Romania, and a Master’s degree in Telecommunication Networks from Ecole Nationale Superieure des Telecommunications, where he finished first in his class.
