Evan Ward-Henninger oversees all aspects of general Membership at Film Independent including growth and retention, customer service, Film Independent Spirit Awards voting, campaigns/promotions and public outreach. Evan received a Bachelor of Arts in Communications/Screenwriting from Loyola Marymount University.

He began his professional career as an intern at MGM shingle David Ladd Films. This lead to work as a freelance script reader with the American Accolades Screenwriting Competition, Academy Writers Clinic, Vintage Entertainment and Torque Entertainment. In 2004, as a screenwriter, Mr. Ward-Henninger was accepted into Film Independent’s signature professional development program for filmmakers from underrepresented communities, Project Involve. Through the program, he was mentored by Writer/Director Kasi Lemmons (Black Nativity, Eve’s Bayou). That year, he expanded his commitment to community-building for filmmakers and film lovers by accepting a position in Membership at Film Independent. Mr. Ward-Henninger has gone on to oversee all aspects of Film Independent’s Membership program since 2008. During his tenure, Membership has grown over 120%.
