Content & Cybersecurity Forum 2018
March 21, 2018 @ 8:30 am - 12:00 pm CET
Content & Cybersecurity Forum
Hôtel Westminster, 13, Rue de la Paix 75002 Paris, France, 21st March 2018
Following the success of last year’s Paris initiative, MESA Europe, together with its industry sponsors, are delighted to announce the 2018 Content and Cybersecurity Forum.
This morning session will provide a platform for industry experts and delegates to immerse themselves in the topic and to gain detailed insights into the wide ranging threats the industry currently faces and some of the measures that can be taken to minimise those risks and to take decisive action once a security breach or piracy problem has been identified. Among the topics that will be discussed are:
- Cybercrime – Are You Prepared?
- Does anyone still care about Piracy?
- Keeping the lid on Content Leaks?
- Security – We Are All Responsible
In each case, the extent of the threat, preventative measures and ‘preparing for the inevitable’ will feature as part of the discussion, with participants drawing on real life experiences to illustrate the dangers of inaction and complacency.
The MESA Europe Content and Cybersecurity Forum will take place on the morning of 21st March in Paris.

Fighting Fraud Through Service Compliance
Brian Paxton, Principal Consultant, Head of Video Consulting, Cartesian
Compliance with content contracts is a challenge for many service providers, but compliance also brings benefits. Well designed and engineered services can reduce fraud, increase revenue and reduce piracy. We explore some of the choices service providers can make and look at how they can impact the overall health of these services.

Protecting Against Cybercrime
Mathew Gilliat-Smith, Chief Executive Officer, Fortium Technologies
Instances of content piracy are nothing new. Thieves have been stealing movies and television shows for decades, but recent cases of hackers pilfering content from studios and their suppliers are of a different scale than anything we’ve seen in the past. More recently the problem is just as likely to be a ransomware attack or a targeted raid on sensitive data both of which can be disruptive, time consuming and expensive, to say nothing of the commercial damage that may follow.

Protecting Content – New Role for Operators? New Challenges for Vendors!
Pascal Hetzscholdt, Director, Content Protection, Europe & Africa, 21st Century Fox
Content protection has matured and we are entering an era of consolidation. Meanwhile, new technological challenges have appeared on the horizon. What are the current needs of rights owners in light of global piracy enforcement? What do they require from vendors? How can vendors help them prepare themselves for the future? And what’s the role of operators in all of this?
The Consumers’ Role in Piracy
Chris Le Maitre, Director Operations, Operational Security, Cisco Systems
The pirate consumer is getting smarter and is exploiting a variety of routes to obtain unauthorised access to content. The industry is responding with a growing array of advanced technology solutions aimed at prevention, detection and takedown. In this next presentation we will hear more about the consumer’s role in continuing to drive pirate activity and learn about some steps that are being taken to counter content theft.
