Job Description

Big Data engineers are passionate about the customer experience and can design and build services that enable all customers to connect and leverage all Enterprise Assets in their organization.

As a Big Data Engineer, you will:

Serve as a company-wide expert in the integration between MicroStrategy and a Big Data technology.
Design and deploy Big Data clusters to simulate enterprise-grade environments.
Help with performance tuning and develop best practices to share with customers and partners.
Design secure environments (Kerberos, SSL, etc.) to provide best in class security for gateway connectivity and data transmission.
Research and develop using the latest breakthroughs in Big Data technology and incorporate the new-found knowledge into the product.
Design automation for cluster deployment, configuration, and user manipulations.
Communicate mission and concepts internally to stakeholders and present at conferences
Lead teams of developers and mentor engineers across teams
Drive relationships with key stakeholders to bring an application to production
Collaborate with engineers, superiors and other organizations within MicroStrategy

Technologies you could use: Shell scripting (KSH, bash), Python, Windows Server, Linux, MapReduce, Redshift, Hive, Impala, Presto, Spark, Drill, MongoDB, JDBC, ODBC, AWS, lambda, Jenkins, Kerberos, SSL, Javascript
Qualifications

You would be a good fit for our teams if you:

Have at least 3 years of experience in a leadership capacity
Have a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s Degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.
Are well versed in Big Data Theory, Event-driven microservice architecture, containerization and deployment, automated testing
Experience with building highly available and scalable solutions
Are experienced with any or all of the following: REST, Javascript, Shell scripting (KSH, bash), Python, Akka, Scala, Serverless Architecture, MapReduce, Redshift, Hive, Impala, Presto, Spark, Drill, NoSQL and Relational databases, AWS, Azure, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes
Certification for AWS, Azure and/or GCP a plus
Have built highly scalable, secure, big data clusters in the past
Are truly passionate about Big Data and/or microservice architectures
Have excellent debugging and problem-solving skills
Are a quick learner, self-motivated and take pride in your work
