As an Information Systems Engineer on the SAS IT Cloud Operations Management team, you will have the opportunity to support the private OpenStack cloud and corporate Linux/Unix infrastructure at SAS. This position requires a diverse skill set and a continued willingness to learn new technologies for our leading-edge OpenStack environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

Operational support of the SAS OpenStack infrastructure
Apply rolling patches to hypervisors according to documented procedures
Attend daily stand-up meetings with the OpenStack engineering team
Resolve severity 2 and 3 incidents reported by monitoring/alerting
Capacity planning and performance monitoring
Work with team of engineers to develop and maintain server infrastructure for production SAS environments, SAS R&D development teams and product build environments
Work closely with R&D and IT Service Management Office to assist in developing solutions that align with corporate R&D business objectives
Advise end users on cloud best practices
Be a member of an on-call rotation

Qualifications

Essential:

Strong Linux systems administration and troubleshooting skills
OpenStack support experience
Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine)
Knowledge of networking architecture and protocols such as TCP and UDP
Willing to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation
Experience with system monitoring and alerting

Preferred:

Familiar with container technologies such as Docker
Familiar with software defined networking and storage
Experience with configuration tools such as Ansible and Puppet
Familiar with system management, monitoring, and lifecycle management
Familiar with RESTful API use cases
Experience with cloud IaaS technologies such as OpenStack, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Compute Engine (GCE), or Microsoft Azure
Familiar with an interpreted programming language such as Python
Ability to troubleshoot moderate networking and container problems
