Job Summary

Equinix is seeking a talented leader who is inspired by big opportunities, driven to learn and grow, and actively seeking to make a meaningful difference. We’re recruiting an experienced communications professional to serve as the Director of Communications for the Customer & Revenue organization (CRO). The CRO is comprised of global Sales, Marketing, Revenue Operations, Customer Care and Experience, and the Regional leadership for the company. This person will lead all aspects of communications for the Chief Revenue Officer (CCRO) and members of his leadership team. 

 

This newly expanded role needs an experienced team leader, a strategist, and a strong content creator who enjoys partnering directly with senior executives across teams to create executive platforms and integrated programs aligned to the company’s priorities. We need a master storyteller and consummate strategist who will combine a deep understanding of sales, marketing and partnerships and Equinix business priorities with disciplined execution and meticulous attention to detail to drive measurable results. 

 

This is a highly visible position and will serve as a trusted partner and advisor to the CRO leadership team and the Communications team, aiming to maximize, prioritize, and integrate the voices and communication programs of several top executives for larger benefit. They will be responsible for developing and executing the communications strategy, programming, and content for the entire CRO organization – including executive and internal communications, executive content creation, social media and thought leadership. They will also partner across the communications team to proactively create and deliver on a wide range of media, analyst, and stakeholder activities.  

 

This role reports to the Senior Director of Executive and Internal Communications and will manage several direct reports.  

 

Responsibilities

Developing and executing the CRO communications strategy and plan for the Chief Customer and Revenue Officer (60%) 

Strategically and operationally driving the cross-functional CRO communication strategy, ensuring that all CRO leaders and functions align to, and reinforce each other (40%) 

Elevating the Chief Revenue Officer’s voice on specific topics aligned with Equinix’s strategy and the outcomes, value, and innovation customers and partners can create through Platform Equinix 

Leading the strategy, programming and content for CRO employee communications, including All Hands, videos, written content, and touch points to engage employees 

Crafting presentations, messaging and talking points for external/internal events  

Driving proactive external engagement with key partners and leaders that expand the CRO’s network and support broader company business objectives 

Partnering closely with the PR, AR, social, and regional communications leaders to drive external engagement opportunities across priority audiences and topics 

Drafting briefing materials used to prepare the CCRO for engagements 

Partnering closely with the sales and partner teams on major partner and customer engagements that require communications support 

Building and maintaining relationships with members of the executive leadership team, the CRO leadership team, and cross-functional stakeholders to inform CRO communications strategy and content 

Implementing processes that drive long-term planning, high-quality content gathering, and rigorous execution across all aspects of CRO communications 

 

Qualifications 

At least 15 years of communications experience, with track record of overseeing communications programs in leadership roles 

Significant executive communications experience, ideally for a Fortune 500 Company. Communications experience supporting one or more go-to-market functions is an added benefit 

A gifted storyteller, strategist and writer who can embody the voice and perspective of others; experience in speech writing, creating executive content

Ability to balance the head and the heart of the executive voice, weaving in emotion, passion, and personal connection in what we create 

Highly collaborative nature with experience working cross-functionally in a highly matrixed organization where you must partner, manage a team, manage through influence, and set others up for success 

Uncanny ability to develop and leverage strong partnerships across an organization, harmonize various perspectives/objectives, provide sound counsel, prioritize, and deliver positive outcomes for all involved Experience in building and managing a new team, helping to build both a strong team dynamic as well as

developing individual’s careers 

Strong executive presence that inspires trust and confidence
