Overview

Hands on technical Content Engineer is responsible for supporting the Content Engineering & Encoding environment, handling inbound media qualifications while establishing and maintaining workflows to ensure that Vubiquity transcoding outbound format standards are met. Assist in the development and support of transcoding workflow automation. Establish and maintain CODEC profiles for transcoding platforms that include Transkoder, Elemental, iCR and Vantage. Responsible for developing automated analysis profiles using Baton and Aurora.     

Responsibilities

Operate efficiently while developing professional expertise in a fast-paced agile environment where operational priorities change quickly.
Troubleshoot a variety of technical and operational issues while applying company policies and procedures. Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of multiple content processing platforms and their integration into operational workflows.
Maintain media encoding, transcoding platforms and analysis platforms, to ensure the highest accuracy, stability, performance and quality.
Establish and maintain operational capacity metrics for all media processing platforms to include encoding, transcoding, editing and analysis.
Designs, creates and documents transcoding workflows for production deployment and facilitates workflow initial and ongoing training for Operational Departments.
Interact with development, product management, business analyst, enterprise architecture, QA, and support teams throughout the product development lifecycle and continue in an ongoing operational product support role supporting all aspect of media processing.
Stay up to date with CODEC specifications, media compression platforms, media analysis platforms and software technologies.
Research new concepts, methods, and technologies relevant to media processing and distribution architectures

Additional Responsibilities:

Maintain Content Engineering issue and work order ticketing system

Provide weekly Content Engineering work and capacity reporting

Participate in internal and external business calls and meetings

Research new concepts, methods, and technologies relevant to our solutions

Qualifications

Education: BS degree in Media Engineering, related field, or equivalent experience

3+ years of experience with video/audio codecs J2K MPEG-4/h.264, h.265, MPEG-2, VC1, ProRes required.
Knowlegde of emerging formats like 4k/UHD, HDR, Object-based audio (ie Atmos), WCG

Experience with open source media libraries such as ffmpeg

Experience with scripting languages like Perl, shell scripting and Java

Experience with Linux and Windows

Knowledge of transcoding platforms, Transkoder, Elemental, Vantage, Agility, and iCR

Knowledge of Analysis platforms, Aurora and Baton

Experience with agile engineering and development life cycle, from collecting requirements, communicating requirements via user stories , design, documentation, deployment and training

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously while adhering to strict deadlines
