DevOps Engineer (AWS/Cloud)

Join a talented team in a growing VC backed company, to deliver the next generation SaaS payments platform. We are seeking a DevOps Engineer (AWS/Cloud) to become an integral part of our team! We are interested in candidates with all experience levels. We would be excited to find a fast learner with the right “Administrator” attitude, that can grow into the position. However, if you have specific DevOps experience, that would be great.

Success for this role will be defined by high internal satisfaction with Exactuals’ Information Technology platform and deployment/management capabilities, which results in a strong product offering for Exactuals’ customers.

Exactuals and DevOps
Exactuals is hosted 100% in the cloud – AWS specifically. We focus on automating, monitoring, and self-healing our services. The whole of our development team contributes to the quality-first, deploy anytime, customer-focused life cycle. We work with an agile mentality in fast-paced environment. We use tools like Jenkins, and many AWS products including EC2, ECS, S3, VPC, Route 53, SNS, SQS and Lambda. Additionally, our team is constantly investigating the latest and greatest technologies.

DevOps manages all of our services in the AWS environment. Starting with the physical infrastructure that runs our products, DevOps manages and optimizes costs, expenses, and access to our systems, ensuring system redundancy and maximum uptime. Providing 24×7 support, DevOps are the first responders to mitigate and fix technical problems. DevOps is not a separate team, but work alongside the development team to drive the best possible customer experience.

Responsibilities

Managing and extending our existing infrastructure to support our AWS-based Cloud services.
Creating and utilizing tools to monitor our applications and services in the cloud including system health indicators, trend identification, and anomaly detection.
Automating system build outs and the application deployment process.
Working with development teams to help engineer scalable, reliable, and resilient software running in the cloud.
Participating in on-call escalation to troubleshoot customer facing issues.
Enhancing monitoring of systems, services and hardware to solve problems before they become problems for our customers.
Analyzing and monitor performance bottlenecks and key metrics in order to optimize software and system performance.
Providing analytics and forecasts for cloud capacity, troubleshooting analysis, and uptime.

Requirements

BS in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or corresponding experience.
2 or more years of cloud-based Operations background understanding concepts such as distributed systems, alerting, monitoring, logging, and incident management.
Understanding of one or more programming languages such as Python (preferred).
Experience with highly available distributed Linux server environments.
Understanding of Linux core fundamentals, command-line operations, scripting, and service monitoring.
Experience with SQL and noSQL solutions.
Experience working with git.
Experience with AWS, specifically AWS EC2, S3, VPC, Route 53, ECS, Lambda.
Experience with Docker cluster and associated management tools (Fleet, Kubernetes, Swarm, etc.).
Experience with automation and configuration management using Jenkins.
Solid understanding of agile methodologies, working in small teams, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery.
Firm understanding of networking concepts and technologies.
Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
