We are seeking a unique individual who is passionate about describing and organizing the world’s music, movies and television programs. This position leads the design of information architecture, content understanding, and curation systems that power Gracenote’s media metadata, discovery and analytics solutions.

Information Architecture, Taxonomy & Ontology Design

Design taxonomies and ontologies for organizing music & video information, as informed by information science principles and content domain expertise.
Develop and define new descriptor values, ensuring high precision, relevance, consistency and propriety.
Design and develop solutions enabling search, browsing, navigation and social use cases.

Descriptive and Associative Data Guidelines & Development

Develop standards and guidelines for the application of descriptive and associative data assignments, classification and mapping.

Collaborate with data science team to evaluate and continually improve machine learning media descriptor classifier output.

Content Curation for Machine Learning Systems

Define guidelines for, and contribute to, the development of content sets and expert ground truth annotations used to train machine learning systems to understand and describe music and video styles, moods and other perceptual qualities.
Lead content curation projects to power demonstrations, prototypes and products.

Design of Metadata Generation Methods

Design information engineering methods for automatically generating descriptive metadata, associative connections and trending metrics from a diverse set of input signals.
Contribute to the design of systems which disambiguate and defragment external source data, to establish media object identity for global reference.

Discovery Systems Design, Development & Evaluation

Drive overall quality and contribute to the design of solutions for algorithmic generation of music & video recommendations, playlists and stations.

Design data and methods to enable solutions for media personalization and contextually-adaptive user experiences.

Music & Video Programming

Develop content intelligence-based recipes for generating dynamic music and video channels based on themes, moods, and activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in information science, computer science, musicology, film studies or related field; graduate degree / MBA a plus.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in music or video product management, content management or data development.

Skills & Knowledge

Domain knowledge of global music, film and television genres, both mainstream and long-tail.
Knowledge of structured metadata and information architecture principles.
Understanding of video and audio analysis, data mining and semantic technologies is a plus.
Top-notch analytical and problem-solving skills required. Strong editorial skills and attention to detail required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to engage editorial, business and technical audiences.
Solid track record of successfully leading cross-functional teams by communicating vision and establishing consensus to design and deliver successful projects.
