SUMMARY
Hulu’s Data and Analytics Organization is seeking an Engineering Director who will be an exceptional addition to our Data Software Engineering team. As a Director, Data Platform at Hulu, you will lead four Software Development teams of extraordinarily hardworking software engineers. The right person for this role will bring a broad and in-depth big data knowledge with previous experience to build a giant-scale and high-performance data platform. If you are someone who has hands-on experience as well as ‘can-do-it’ attitude and like to conquer the interesting technical challenges for, then this is a great role for you.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Provides leadership across the big-data platform in Hulu to ensure solutions are built in alignment with industrial cutting-edge principles and standards
Acts as an evangelist for the data-platform team and works with teams in Hulu to keep them apprised of the future plan
Establish OKRs, project planning and resource requirements to accomplish projects and support customers
Lead the development, implementation, and execution of multiple projects ensuring scope and schedule are established for projects.
Oversee the operating plan and resource allocation for the department including prioritization and staff deployment
Provide mentorship to leaders and individual contributors on the team and guide technical thinking
Help develop a vision for a global data platform to support all the Hulu’s future business initiatives
Overcome the production challenges involved with the large petabyte data systems
Ensure data SLAs for all our data partners
WHAT TO BRING
10+ years of experience leading multiple high-performing engineering teams within the data space
Extraordinary leadership skills and validated experience in shaping team culture
Demonstrated ability to attract talent, build teams and culture, and have fun
Strong knowledge of real-time/batched data pipelines, extremely large distributing system, data architecture, and data quality management
Experience with Big Data technologies such as Hadoop eco-system, Kafka, orchestration platform, user behavior tracking etc.
Deep understanding of high-performance computing, storage, and networking
BS or MS in Computer Science/Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or similar degree
Ability to work with senior management and executives, including assessing and communicating risk
High-energy self-starter with a passion for your work, tolerance for ambiguity in a fast-paced setting, and a positive attitude
A passion for digital entertainment
NICE-TO-HAVES
Previous hands-on experience in the java/scala programming language
Familiarity with data governance
