We’re the NoSQL technology that hundreds of organizations like the BBC, Dow Jones, JP Morgan Chase, Aetna, the US Armed Forces, and numerous government agencies trust to run their mission-critical operational and analytic applications.

We’re looking for a smart, creative, passionate and experienced team leader/manager for our front-end UI development team. You will also hire UI developers into your team. We need a leader who is passionate about user experience and excited about creating a product that makes an impact on enterprise customers running their mission critical applications on MarkLogic. This position is full-time and is based in our San Carlos, CA office.

What you’ll be doing:

Shaping MarkLogic’s UI product direction
Technical leadership on the architecture and implementation of front-end browser and mobile applications.
Managing and growing a UI/UX team of developers and designers, especially attracting and inspiring new talent
Defining standards and best practices for UI and UX to create an engaging and consistent MarkLogic user experience, such as style guides, component libraries, visual branding guidelines, and performance and quality benchmarks

What you need:

Experience shipping products as a technical leader
Demonstrated ability delivering data-rich user experiences for the browser or mobile, especially for the enterprise or back office
Experience managing small UI/UX teams
Expertise in modern browser and mobile development best practices, including application architecture, frameworks and tooling, testing, performance benchmarking, and accessibility
Familiarity with modern, interactive data visualization, such as Business Intelligence, data science, or scientific computing
Strong understanding of browser-based MVC architecture and implementation.
Expert understanding of the JavaScript language and solid knowledge of the JavaScript open-source ecosystem
Ability to communicate complex concepts to highly technical Engineers and non-technical users
Creativity, problem-solving skills, intellectual curiosity, and empathy
Excellent communication and writing skills
