iTunes is Transaction VOD With Highest Number of French Titles

A recent analysis from BB Media, focused on content availability across 1,306 covered streaming platforms of the European region, with a special focus on French content, found that of 470,1000-plus unique titles on the continent, 177,300 can be found in France.

That’s good for second place on the list of countries with the most titles in Europe, with the U.K. topping the ranking with 233,035 titles and Germany at No. 3 with 177,163 titles.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (185 platforms), Jackass Forever (183 platforms) and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (157 platforms) are the most distributed movies in Europe that were launched so far this year. The last two are both U.S. productions, while the first one is a co-production between the United States and the U.K.

After monitoring 17,404 French titles, BB Media detected that the most-offered business model is transaction VOD.

Interestingly, iTunes (a TVOD) is the streaming platform with the most hours of contents corresponding to that country (112,906 in total), and the one with the largest French library in Europe (7,156 titles).

When comparing the streaming services with the greatest number of bundles with third parties in order to build a bigger user base, Netflix not only comes in first in France with 14 bundles & partnerships, but it also shows the highest number of bundles at a regional level, with 283 bundles in all of Europe. HBO Max earns the second place with 156 bundles and Apple TV+ the third place with 91.
