BB Media: Europe Sees Several Streaming Launches

Several European countries have been the beneficiaries of new streaming launches of late, with Portugal, The Netherlands, Poland, the Czech Republic, and Spain all seeing new services, according to media and entertainment data firm BB Media.

The new “Multiscreens+ Platform Essentials” report noted that both The Netherlands and Portugal saw the launch of the new SkyShowtime OTT service, while NBCUniversal’s all-reality SVOD service Hayu debuted across all of Central and Eastern Europe.

Meanwhile, the Czech platform Aerovod ceased operations in order to merge with KVIFF.TV. Polish broadcaster TVP launched its own streaming platform in that country, while Grupo Mediapro launched Gol Mundial, an OTT service that will be home to the World Cup for viewers in Spain.

In Latin America the new, rebranded DGO OTT service debuted in eight countries, and in the U.S., the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers launched its own SVOD service for fans.
