BB Media: Major March Streaming Gains For Europe

Nearly 10 European countries saw a new or expanded streaming service launch in March, far outpacing any other continent, with Latin America the only other region seeing more than one service launch.

That’s according to a new report from media and entertainment data firm BB Media, which listed the debut of SKY Showtime in Andorra, the launch of Nordic+ in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, the new services ICAA and AnimeBox, and the rebranded FUBO, in Spain, the free offering OQEE Cine and SVOD mk2 Curiosity in France, and the sports streamer Dyn in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

That compares to just one rebranded service — FubTV into FUBO — in North America, and two new launches — Wave OTT Plus in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Perú, Uruguay and Venezuela; and Paramount+ in Brazil and Mexico — in Latin America. SBT relaunched in Brazil and Teleantioquia Play relaunched in Columbia.

Worldwide, LPF Play, the dedicated platform for Argentina’s La Liga league, debuted, along with Ultra Jhakaas.
