MESA Member Webinar Week Ahead: May 22-26

Tech Mahindra hosts an important “Women in Leadership” panel, Perforce tackles the state of IP security infrastructure, and the IT community gathers in Los Angeles for the annual Hollywood Innovation and Transformation Summit (HITS) Spring event, the industry’s largest gathering of media and entertainment’s CIOs and top technology minds.

Those are just a few of the events from the MESA community the week of May 22-26, according to MESA’s global member e-calendar.

Here’s a look at what’s ahead:

Tuesday:

• The Hollywood Innovation and Transformation Summit (HITS) Spring event takes place at the Culver Theater, bringing together the IT, data, and security communities of the industry. Held as a hybrid in-person and virtual event, those not in Los Angeles can attend via Zoom or the MESAverse, MESA’s virtual work environment for its members and communities to watch live presentations, network, and step on the stage to share opinions.

The MESAverse uses ICVR’s RendezVu, a proprietary, interactive 3D-world application that will allow for hybrid live and virtual events and regular day-to-day interactions that go far beyond video conferencing.

HITS is produced by MESA in association with the Hollywood IT Society (HITS) and presented by Amazon Studios Technology, with sponsorship by Fortinet, Genpact, Prime Focus Technologies, Signiant, Softtek, Convergent, Gracenote, Altman Solon, AppTek, Ascendion, Coresite, EPAM, MicroStrategy, Veritone, CDSA, EIDR and PDG Consulting.

• Tech Mahindra hosts “Women In Leadership: Driven by Passion.” This riveting session explores how our passions drive our work and personal lives. Panelists will share their experiences and hardships, discussing how their passions relate to their work and what inspires them to achieve their goals. Dive deep into each panelist’s journey and gain insights on what inspires them to achieve their goals, how their passions relate to their work today and how we all can live a more fulfilled life.

• Technicolor Creative Studios hosts “Learn, Create and Grow: Modelling.” Technicolor Creative Studios Academy Trainer, Vijay Kumar V, will lead the webinar session on Modelling in the Learn, Create and Grow series. This webinar will provide you with an understanding of how to sharpen your artistic modelling skills as well as improve your understanding of texture, shading, rigging, and lighting, and learn how to create more believable characters and assets. Using Zbrush, Vijay will demonstrate modelling and sculpting to show you what your product will look like in real life.

Wednesday:

• “IP Security Infrastructure in an Uncertain World” will be held by Perforce. With rising global uncertainty, security restrictions on semiconductor technologies can shift rapidly – and carry severe financial penalties for accidental violations. Having an airtight IP security infrastructure is critical in this dynamic landscape. How do you maintain the security of design assets and related data across globally distributed teams and keep up with changing restrictions – without negatively impacting already stretched design teams and schedules?

Thursday:

• SecureTheVillage hosts “Invasion of the Body and Mind (Data) Snatchers.” Recent news headlines suggest that vast amounts of our private physical health, mental health, genetics, and fitness data is being collected and sold without our knowledge or consent. Additionally, law enforcement has been requesting (sometimes via subpoena) and buying this data. This data is being used to profile and target us, and it can easily be weaponised against us. That’s why we have a right to know what data is being collected. Beyond this, big questions abound. Who has our data and how many places does it end up? Who is selling this data and profiting from it? Who is aggregating it? We also want to know who’s buying this data and how they are using it!
