MESA Member Webinar Week Ahead: Oct. 30-Nov. 3

Fortinet hosts its Cloud Security Summit, Wasabi talks about avoiding pitfalls of cloud storage for edge, and Women in Technology Hollywood (WiTH) host the SoCal Women’s Leadership Summit.

Here’s what the MESA community has planned the week of Oct. 30-Nov. 3, according to MESA’s global member e-calendar.

Wednesday:

• Fortinet kicks off its Cloud Security Summit. In today’s fast-paced business landscape, the cloud has become the catalyst for transformation. Organisations worldwide are harnessing its potential to scale effortlessly, accelerate time-to-market, enhance customer responsiveness, and streamline costs. Yet, embracing the cloud entails one crucial aspect that can’t be overlooked — security. Experts will discuss cloud security best practices, privacy and performance, and managing cloud costs.

Friday:

• The annual SoCal Women’s Leadership Summit is presented by Qvest with sponsorship by Amazon Studios Technology, Fortinet, Salesforce, UST, Perception Grid and Softtek, and will take place at Nya Studios, located in the heart of Hollywood. The summit will be held both in-person in Los Angeles and virtually via Zoom. The event is being held in conjunction with the Infinity Festival.

The full-day event, themed “Us, Our Org, Our Community,” promises a dynamic line-up of presentations and discussions. Attendees can expect engaging sessions such as “STEM in Media,” “Courageous Leadership,” and “Ethical AI.” Last year’s in-person edition of the summit attracted over 250 attendees, with more than 70 percent representing the media, entertainment, and tech-adjacent industries.

One of the highlights of the summit is the Leadership Awards, which recognises outstanding leaders and advocates in the entertainment technology sector. These individuals not only excel in their professional roles but also embody WiTH’s principles through their work, community engagement, mentoring, and networking. Past recipients of the award include industry luminaries like Nancy Faginas-Cody, Cristina Mancini-Jones, and Theresa Miller.

• Wasabi presents “Avoiding the Pitfalls of Cloud Storage for Edge and AI-Powered Applications.” AI, IoT, and other advanced edge services have different storage needs than traditional cloud storage use cases like backup and archive. One of the chief challenges is understanding where the hidden costs are for storing data created by these applications. It’s a lot different than most IT teams expect. This session explores the challenges that many organisations face in future-proofing their data storage as new hybrid, edge, and AI use-cases are increasing in popularity. Join Wasabi’s David Boland and Lily McIntyre for this exclusive speaking session from Cloud Expo Asia.
