Wasabi at IBC: New Partnerships, New Solutions

At IBC 2023, Wasabi showed off its simple and affordable hot cloud storage for businesses that attended from all around the world, showing how the offering enables organisations to store and instantly access an unlimited amount of data at a fraction of the price of the competition, setting aside complex tiers and unpredictable egress fees.

Whit Jackson, VP of media and entertainment at Wasabi, spoke with MESA about Wasabi’s experience at the show.

MESA: What makes IBC unique among all the other conferences in our industry, and what does Wasabi get out of the show?

Jackson: IBC has this great ability to attract delegates from all over the world who are ready to learn about the latest technologies for media and entertainment and are ready to do business. IBC is continuously at the forefront of transformations within our industry and presenting the latest in technologies and best practices. At Wasabi, we’re able to meet with stakeholders from end users and partners that we’re not able to interact with anywhere else.

MESA: What is Wasabi most looking forward to in Amsterdam?

Jackson: This year, Wasabi is really looking forward to collaborating and celebrating with our partners! We have some exciting activities with our technology partners like Grass Valley, GrayMeta, Vultr, and Console Connect as well as channel partners like Global Distribution. Our team is eager to showcase how we’re better together with our partners.

MESA: What product or service announcements can we expect from Wasabi during IBC?

Jackson: At IBC 2023, Wasabi will be showcasing new strategic partnerships with Grass Valley and GrayMeta, deepening our ties in the media and entertainment industry.

Wasabi will provide cost savings and flexibility to Grass Valley’s Agile Media Processing Platform (AMPP). Together, Grass Valley AMPP and Wasabi hot cloud storage provide the most comprehensive and cost-effective media workflow storage solution. Wasabi can now serve as a hot cloud storage target within the AMPP ecosystem offering limitless cloud storage without any ingress or egress fees. Content files can move between Wasabi storage and AMPP applications without incurring any transfer fees to minimise expense and keep projects on budget.

Meanwhile, Wasabi will also be previewing new SmartBuckets TM technology through a powerful new integration with GrayMeta Curio that will harness the power of AI to create more personalised sports fan experiences with hyper specific detail.

The partnership transforms cumbersome media archives into the highly indexed and searchable Smart Buckets, generating rich metadata for media libraries stored in Wasabi that enables digital creatives to instantly find and retrieve specific media segments based on people, places, events, emotions, logos, landmarks, background audio, and more.

They can then deliver relevant content to market as fast as possible.

Liverpool Football Club aims to take its strategic partnership with Wasabi to the next level by looking at how they could apply this technology to its own media library in the near future. “This solution would allow us to bring fans more rapid access to engaging content from the most recent games to those most memorable moments from the club’s history and help them feel even more connected to their club,” said Drew Crisp, SVP of digital for Liverpool Football Club.
