Protecting Creativity in the Online Era
Online piracy has a serious impact on the media industry; to sustain investments in creative content and protect the livelihoods of the 22 million people that work in the creative industry, it is essential to contain this threat. In today’s online world, where everyone can share content effortlessly with millions of people, traditional content protection tools such as conditional access and DRM are no longer sufficient. In combination with monitoring and take-down services, the content industry needs to explore the use of modern technologies such as watermarking, which can be deployed across the entire content creation, production and distribution chain as an effective tool to combat illegal content sharing.
